A&P Automotive, originally named A&P Auto Parts, was created by Bill and Kathy Abold and their business partners John and Paulene Pawklicki in Cicero, NY in 1969. A&P Auto Parts specialized in automotive recycling and the sale of used auto parts. With a growing population an increasing number of automobiles in the U.S., there was a steady rise in the demand for quality used auto parts at this time.

In an attempt to expand distribution to the north, Bill and Kathy bought a location in Oswego, NY to sell used auto parts. Fresh out of college, Pat, the son of Bill and Kathy, was hired to manage the Oswego location along with his wife Kris. Within a year, a four-bay service center was added to the Oswego location to install used parts and perform general vehicle maintenance. Soon after, it became clear that selling used auto parts at a satellite location would no longer be profitable, so Pat and Kris expanded into the new parts and full automotive service business.

In the early 1990s as mass merchandisers came into the picture and competition grew in the new automotive parts industry, Pat began to make the shift into specializing in tires. Much of the new parts inventory was liquidated and a vast tire inventory was created. Pat and Kris formed a relationship with Bridgestone/Firestone, later becoming a family dealer and TireStarz member.

In 2005, ownership of the A&P Auto Parts Oswego location was purchased by Pat and Kris. The business name was changed to A&P Automotive to reflect the emphasis on automotive repair and service while still maintaining an identity that existed for more than two decades.

In 2006 the showroom and customer waiting area was completely remodeled and was recognized in 2007 by Tire Review Magazine as one of the best customer waiting rooms in Central New York. Pat and Kris wanted their customers to feel more at home as they waited for their cars to be serviced. By 2007, three more bays were added to the back of the building to accommodate A&P Automotive's growing customer base. In 2009, A&P Automotive became Oswego County's certified BOSS snow plow installation and repair center, as well as a dealer of snow plow parts. Also in 2009, A&P Automotive celebrated its 25th anniversary. Mario Andretti was on hand as Firestone's spokesperson to help us celebrate this momentous occasion.

A&P Automotive has been nominated for several awards in the tire and service industries. A&P Automotive's business philosophy has always been gaining the trust of its customers through honesty and quality service. We have worked hard on this philosophy over our 26 years in business and enjoy providing our services to central New York and the city of Oswego.
